THEATRE CLASSES FOR STUDENTS OF ALL AGES

Academy of Creative Theatre

Our Academy of Creative Theatre (ACT) has been providing students year-around theatrical training for the past 12 years. We are dedicated to inspiring young performers and technicians in a lively, nurturing and fun environment.

With sessions in the fall and spring complimenting the local school calendar, ACT’s after-school classes are open to all levels of experience. Our well-structured classes offer students the opportunity to develop skills which will benefit them both on and off stage.

Our ever-popular ACT Summer camps offer young artists an opportunity to learn in an inspiring and creative environment. As in past years, we are offering Musical Theatre Camps for students entering grades 1-6, specializing in acting, singing and dancing. ACT’s Summer Conservatory for students entering grades 7-12 is a wonderfully dynamic program taught by a combination of professional guest artists and core ACT teachers, including classes in voice, movement, improv, acting for the camera, audition techniques and more! ACT’s Acting Out! camp offers our non-musical performers entering grades 1-6 a whole week of theatre games, improvisation, and character work. All fun-filled ACT camps and classes always conclude with a final celebratory performance for friends and family!

A.C.T. Mission Statement

To inspire young actors and help them develop skills to become creative performing artists. To provide well-structured training and performance-based exercises and presentations in a lively, nurturing, interactive environment taught by professional artists who are passionate and skilled in working with young actors.

Meet Our Teachers for the Fall 2010 Classes!

A native of the Central Coast, Kerry DiMaggio has been involved in theatre since she was young, including several productions on the Little Theatre stage. Kerry holds a BA (with honors) in Theatre Arts from Cal Poly’s Theatre and Dance Department, where her interest in teaching was piqued by a course in Children’s Drama. Kerry has also trained with the Utah Shakespearean Festival, PCPA, and Cal State Fullerton’s Musical Theatre program. In addition to running the ACT program and teaching for ACT, Kerry holds a substitute teaching permit and teaches consistently in K-12 classrooms throughout the county. Her passion for teaching young performers continues to grow, and she encourages you and your family to “Get into the ACT!”

Kelly Fidopiastis is thrilled to be joining the A.C.T faculty. A graduate of Binghamton University, with a degree in Theatre, Kelly has spent the past 12 years educating all ages in theatre and dance. Originally from the East Coast, she has studied Theatre, Music and Dance at many places including: Adirondack Community College, Ithaca College, Binghamton University, Skidmore College, Broadway Dance Center and with Broadway Dancer/Actress/Singer; Debra Pigliavento. After such training, Kelly won an “Outstanding Performance” Award from the Theatre Association of New York State (TANYS) for her portrayal of “Martha” in the musical The Secret Garden. Prior to moving to CA she was the Director of Performing Arts for the Glens Falls Family YMCA where she taught over 200 students in the disciplines of Acting and Dance.
